Coincidence? Consider It Providential
When Mary greeted Elizabeth, a woman who was older and known to be barren, the infant with which she was carrying leapt in her womb. While I understand this infant eventually became John the Baptist, the timely occurrence and response is what this reading is about. I can understand how this applies to our daily lives. Despite the physical barriers and any belief limitations, it is possible to get a response from God. Remember from Matthew 19:26, “…with God, anything is possible.”
If you ask God for an answer to your question(s) or problem(s), He usually has something for you. How often do you ask yourself, “Is this coincidence?” I can understand skepticism, but I think God has answers in ways that are not as obvious as the infant’s leap. Do you think God was saying or is trying to say something to you? In my opinion, it is good to explore the possibility.

The Reading | Lk 1:39-45
Mary set out
and traveled to the hill country in haste
to a town of Judah,
where she entered the house of Zechariah
and greeted Elizabeth.
When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting,
the infant leaped in her womb,
and Elizabeth, filled with the Holy Spirit,
cried out in a loud voice and said,
“Blessed are you among women,
and blessed is the fruit of your womb.
And how does this happen to me,
that the mother of my Lord should come to me?
For at the moment the sound of your greeting reached my ears,
the infant in my womb leaped for joy.
Blessed are you who believed
that what was spoken to you by the Lord
would be fulfilled.”
